Sciart workshop - Medicine, technology, and art

The medical school in Des Moines, Iowa ( Des Moines University) has a student organization called the "Medical Humanities Society". This organization promotes and supports the humanities in medical education. Students write poetry, publish photography, attend figure drawing classes, and read novels. I connected with the president and vice president of this organization as well as several faculty advisers and together we developed a sciart "show and tell" workshop. The workshop was a partnership between DMU, Area515 Makerspace, and Dr.Gary Hoff - a practicing artist and recently retired anatomy professor. It was structured as part show and tell, part art workshop. By the end of the event everyone walked away having seen or learned something new. Click through the gallery below to explore the event.
